Just created a Facebook fan page for the local gogo troupe I am working to put together, nothing to the page yet other than a mission statement but stay tuned because I’m busting my ass to try and make things happen for me and the few girls I have taken on so far.

Work flow Saturday with one of my go go boys Rexx. We found out that ABC is making male dancers cover their nipples in venues that serve liquor so first he had to wear these awful pasties that looked like band-aids then we switched him to duct tape. I have a burlesque friend working on some masculine pasties for them stat so they don’t have to look so stupid.

Next pair of boots I am getting. If only amazon will get the ones with the black stars back in stock. I think these are mad cute and look super comfortble.
Also, question:
Does anyone else’s camels leave lines from the dye in the suede on their legs? I always have to put cut cosk around my calves to keep them from bleeding on me & sometimes I STILL end up with marks around my legs. Does anyone else experience this or am I just sweating a whole lot more than everyone else?

Costuming On A Budget

I had been struggling trying to think of something new & helpful I could post instead of the recent pictures I have been posting – and then it dawned on me. I hadn’t written a post yet about a piece of advice I share pretty regularly with a lot of people, so now it’s time to share that piece of information here, hope you enjoy!

Any dancer who’s been around a few years, heck even some of the new girls know how expensive and time consuming costuming can become for a dancer. In many cases we are expected to provide wardrobe for ourselves out of our own pockets with little if any compensation. Anyone who’s been around a while also knows a good go go can Macgyver a pretty incredible costume out of not much more than old bra and some ingenuity. I’ve always said I don’t fully respect a dancer until I know she’s stayed up into the wee hours of the morning making a costume. It’s a right of passage we all have to go through.

BUT, it doesn’t have to be expensive!

There are several easy ways I have figured out how to save money throughout my costuming endeavors and I’m going to share them with you now …

1. Craft/Fabric Store Apps:
These will be your new best friend. If you have a phone that is capable many craft & fabric stores like Joanne’s & Hobby Lobby have free apps that will allow you download or access coupons for their stores directly onto your phone. This is so much easier than trying to remember & keep track of the dates on paper coupons. (You should try to utilize these too if you can though!)

2. Create a Junk E-Mail Account:

If you don’t already have one make yourself an alternate e-mail account/address just to sign-up to receive coupons and promotions from your favorite stores online. Many crafting store like Michael’s will send you printable coupons that can be used in store. This can also be applied to clothing & apparel store you like to receive things like coupon codes without having to clog up your personal or business e-mail.

3. Pick Through Sale Racks & Thrift Stores:
You never know what kind of gems you will discover on the clearance rack at a Target or hidden amongst other’s cast-offs at the thrift store. Many items you find can be altered and modified to create something unique to wear yourself. You have to be patient sometimes but when you find a good piece and it’s for a considerable amount less than you would normally spend you’ll be patting yourself on the back.

4. Network With Your Coworkers:
This requires you respect your coworker’s property. But since lots of you will have an assortment of all sorts of things it helps to ask to borrow from time to time so as not to spend any money at all. Just make sure you always return other peoples things!

5. Dancer Discounts:
Some adult novelty stores offer discounts to exotic dancers that they will sometimes extend to go gos for items from their store. This can be a big help with all the stockings, garters, etc. we go through – so it can never hurt to ask!

6. Youtube Tutorials:
There are plenty of tutorials on Youtube and other websites online that can instruct you on how to alter and revamp items you already own and make them into something new again. These are really good to use to modify things like t-shirts.

So that’s all I can come up with for now, I hope this may help out or give some of your ideas you hadn’t already thought of! Hope everyone had a good start to their week!

Well first of all always wear sock with them! Sometimes I wear thick socks just to add an extra cushion to them! Even if they do get really hot.
The big solid stacks I haven’t worn before, but I would always suggest getting some Dr. Scholls insoles and trying them out. Some poeple might think they are “old fashioned” but the gel insoles they make now are incredibly comfortable and would probably help alot. (Plus they’re not very expensive!)
